Terms of sale

Last updated 5 November 2026

1. Who you are dealing with

These terms are between you and [legal name] (ABN [ABN]) of [address], trading as Dark Day Ready. Contact: hello@darkdayready.com.

2. Ordering

An order is placed when you complete payment on our Stripe checkout page. We send a confirmation email. A contract forms when we send the dispatch email. If we cannot supply (for example a pricing error or stock problem) we tell you and refund in full before dispatch.

3. Prices and GST

Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST. We issue a tax invoice with every order. Prices can change, but not for an order already paid.

4. Delivery

As set out in Shipping. Kits are packed by our fulfilment partner in China and sent to you from there as one tracked parcel. We remain the seller and the party responsible to you, and you never need to deal with the partner. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery to your address or nominated collection point.

5. Returns and guarantees

As set out in Returns and refunds. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded.

6. What the kits are, and are not

Our kits are household supplies: lighting, portable power, a water filter straw, a radio, basic first aid dressings, a household plan emailed to you to print, and in some kits a guide to setting up an offline reference library on your own device (and, for Grid Down Home when it becomes available, a tablet with that library set up). They are intended to help a household manage a short disruption to services. They are not a substitute for following emergency services' instructions, for a household emergency plan, for professional medical care, or for insurance. They do not prevent or protect against cyber attacks, natural disasters or any other event. Component brands and models may vary between batches; stated specifications are minimums.

7. Using the goods safely

Follow the instructions supplied with each item. Lithium power banks: keep away from heat, do not puncture, recharge every three months, dispose of at a battery recycling point, never in household waste. The water filter straw is for emergency use with fresh water sources only, not seawater, chemically contaminated water or water you know to be unsafe. First aid items are for minor injuries; call 000 in an emergency. The Offline Library contains reference material from Wikipedia, WikiMed, Appropedia, Project Gutenberg and other free-licence or public-domain sources; it is general information, not medical, legal or engineering advice, and may be out of date. The Offline Reader supplied with Grid Down Home, when that kit becomes available, is a standard Android tablet; keep its software updated if you connect it to the internet.

7A. Offline Library licences

Library content is published by its owners and the Kiwix project under its own licences (Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike for Wikipedia and most wikis, public domain for Project Gutenberg, GNU GPL for the Kiwix reader software). With the Household kit you download it yourself, free, using our setup guide. The licences, attribution notices and source links are in the guide and at /library. We claim no ownership of that content.

8. Our liability

To the extent the law allows, our liability for anything other than the consumer guarantees is limited to resupplying the goods or refunding their price, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. This does not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, including under the Australian Consumer Law, or to death, personal injury or fraud.

9. Your account and email

There are no accounts. Marketing email is sent only with your consent and can be stopped from any email. Order emails are sent to the address you gave Stripe.

10. Intellectual property

The Dark Day Ready name, the 72-Hour Household Plan and the site's text and images are ours. You may print and share the plan for personal, non-commercial use.

11. Privacy

As set out in the Privacy policy.

12. Disputes and law

Email us first; we resolve almost everything within a week. You can also contact your state or territory fair trading office or the ACCC. These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales and the Commonwealth of Australia.

13. Changes

We may update these terms for future orders. The version in force when you paid applies to your order.
